packing up + dusting off.

After procrastinating the start of our packing up boxes for ages, we are finally getting on it. Well, kinda. I guess you can tell if I'm writing this, I can't actually be packing, can I?

We're moving to a much better house, even though we don't exactly know how much long we'll be here. I've moved nearly 30 times in my life, and the transient lifestyle I've led for the past few years has kept me from accumulating. So it shouldn't be that difficult, but I find myself the laziest I've ever been *ever* for a move.

{oh lovely sfo: where we'll be moving next, soon, hopefully...}

There are many reasons for my relative immobility... But instead of dwelling on those, I'm lighting some incense to cover up the dust smell that came with getting friend's stuff down from our ceiling rafters. Yep. Hardly anybody who "lives" here actually stays here in the winter. So people need a place to store the few items they have when they flee the winter months for warmer climes. Since we were staying throughout the winter and weren't planning on changing houses, we ended up with a bunch of extra goodies to move.

{wouldn't it be beautiful if moving looked like this?}

I know it will all be worth it when we are in our new digs, even if we'll only stay another half a year!

Happy weekending.

I don't know about "many" . . . haha. :) I wish you weren't moving to another house in Patagonia because I want so badly for you to move back here! Thinking about Outside Lands makes me think about being at Bluegrass with you in GG Park and watching Gillian Welch, hiking around the park in our sundresses, our looooooong lunch date with a bottle of wine at Pizza Orgasmica, etc. etc.! Come hooooome!

Hopefully this house is a better one. But oh Patagonia, it sounds so terrific. No in winter though?
Have a happy Sunday. XX

Moving can be really tough! The sheer effort it takes to begin the packing process is hard.. but the best part about moving into a new place is being able to try new and different ways of decorating your new space and making it a home!

Gorgeous pics also!

@abby, thanks! sunday night, and i'm feeling alright!

@claire, ohhhh, and don't forget long long champagne brunches somewhere in oakland, (but i can't remember where). and i can't wait for pizza orgasmica and burma superstar!

i love, patagonia is terrific! but it's a difficult place to weather year-round. it's an absolutely amazing place to come visit, stay for several months.... and then maybe move on :)

@nicole, yeah about 30, but the last several times were into furnished abodes and didn't include moving tons of big bulky items.

@koralee, thank you; good luck home hunting to you guys! after i finally got going, i definitely started to feel the possibilities open up. such a good feeling!

@sarah, packing is always a drag, isn't it? but also a good time to lighten up and go through all those old garbage papers, etc. that are no longer needed. whew.

Oh wow, you've moved 30 times? I've only moved 3 times in my whole life. =) But I can remember really hating the packing up part, I hate the smell of dust and sneezing when I'm packing. Grrr...I hope your packing goes well and I'm wishing you the best on your move.

I HATE moving. Absolutely HATE it. I've done it quite a bit, so you'd think I'd enjoy it a little more, but no... I swear this next time I move, it's going to be the last. :) Good luck with your move and I hope you get that energy going.

That is a lot of moves. But it also means a lot of new beginnings: new places to decorate, new places to see, new people to meet. I hope that you get settled soon, and enjoy your new house!

Best of luck with your move. I know the feeling, as I've recently moved from NYC to Berlin. Living without too much clutter though is nice for a change.

Hi!

As someone who moved seven times in the first seven years of marriage- including three countries- I feel you!

It's funny- we didn't mind moving until one day we said 'lets settle for awhile'- we'll move again- but not anytime soon.

Glad you had the incense to help you out-

I have moved a lot in my life as well. It's always an adventure huh? We'll be moving soon too, as soon as we find a lovely house we are crazy about!
