Last night, car horns honked, firecrackers went off, people screamed in the streets. Not because of our visa, but because all 33 Chilean miners were finally rescued--after 69 days! We saw several of the emotional resurfacings on CNN, while waiting for our interview in an eerily quiet embassy.
In other news, the embassy did approve Serkan's visa! (...after charging us twice what they said they would, good ole money like water. friends, this is not a cheap process!) He left his passport and DHL will deliver it to us in the next 2-3 weeks.
Today Comer, Rezar, Amar (Eat, Pray, Love) is finally out, so we're heading to have ourselves a little popcorn matinee now. I can't remember when I last went to a matinee, maybe a decade ago! When was your last matinee movie?

All around the world people watched, cheered, and teared up a bit when each miner came up and hugged his loved ones. It's so beautiful when people of all different places and experiences can feel the same thing.
I thought of you yesterday, being there while everyone in that country held their breath and then collectively sighed with relief and gratitude.
Thrilled that your visas are clear and you have something to cross off your list!
Woohooo congrats on the visa, that's great news! And yes, I'm so happy for the miners and their families. I don't know if I could have done it... with no proper toilets or showers, no skincare, no lip balm, ugh!!! :-)
Congratulations! 34 good news from Chile in 2 days ;-)
Its so amazing, isn't it? How lovely that they had a public celebration!
Matinee? Forever ago. And thank God for the visa! And thank God the miners were all found . . . though I have to admit that I'm pretty amused about that one getting busted for infidelity cause he requested that his wife AND his mistress be there--HA!
That is a great news about the visa! So happy for you both..Have fun today:)

Congratulations on the visa. The miners story is just phenomenal isn't it? I saw Eat Pray Love the other night and while it doesn't hold a candle to the book, oh that scenery!
You'll be pleased to know that I'll be doing the cuppie post today Heather...sorry I've taken so long!!

everyone here in toronto was glued to the television watching as each miner came home! such a unifying event! to think we were watching the same channel at the same time!

The whole process of freeing the miners felt like a miracle. So glad they are all safe.
Loved sneaking out of college for a matinee show!

Wearing It On My Sleeves
My friend and I keep on talking about it but we still haven't seen the film! I hardly ever go to the cinema anymore... it's just not worth hiring a babysitter for! So we said we'd go during the day when our kids are in kindergarten :-)
We watched a lot of the live feed at work. What an emotional day and am so glad it was a happy ending. A miracle for sure!
I still haven't seen Eat, Pray, Love! Hope it was good!
i saw nine with my husband in the middle of the day- loved it!
Yayy! I totally teared up when I saw the Miners reunited with their families. So GREAT!
